Beautiful German Cello by KARL HOFNER made in 1959 in Bubenreuth/Germany This quality cello is in excellent condition, expertly set up and ready to be enjoyed by the next owner. The back, ribs and neck are made from beautiful European maple and are literally flawless without any cracks or repairs whatsoever. Good and even edge margins all around with no distortions in the ribs as found so often near the end block (see pic.). The top is made from alpine spruce and has been repaired early in its life as indicated by a stamp inside the instrument: Repaired by B.L. Chichester in Colorado Springs 1962. There are two saddle cracks. One on the bass side about 4 inches long. One on the treble side running up past the bridge ending near the upper f-lobe. Even though this crack is close to the bridge it is NOT a soundpost crack. It does not run over the soundpost which stands further "west";-) There is also a small f-wing crack on the treble side. These cracks again have been repaired a long time ago and even though they are clearly visible they are stable and need to be of no concern. Neck angle and bridge height are correct as are all other crutial measurements. The pegs work properly and the bridge is expertly fitted and carved from what appears to be an Aubert/Mirecourt blank. Installed is a high quality carbon fiber endpin. This is an honest instrument, guaranteed to be authentic. I am more than happy to answer any question you might have personally. My name is Alex: 303 403 4314 Shipping cost is for continental US only. Please be advised that for safety reasons this instrument will be shipped with strings, bridge, tailpiece and soundpost removed. If you are not a luthier you will have to take it to your local violin shop to have it set up again. NO RESERVE
