Old Antique Violin - E Reinhold Schmidt - German - 1910s

A beautiful instrument made by German maker Ernst Reinhold Schmidt. Violin is in good antique condition.
I have compiled the following information from several violin references including Henley and Jalovec:
Ernst Reinhold Schmidt was the son of Ernst Cornelius Schmidt, instrument maker form Markneukirchen.  E Reinhold Schmidt studied with Julius Kretzschmann, Markneukirchen. He was assistant of Otto Bausch, Leipzig, Hermann Hammig, Berlin and from 1874-77 at Riechers, Berlin. He established his own firm in 1880.  Due to the great demand, he extended his company.  From 1903 the company was called "E Reinhold Schmidt". Under the trademark "Schmidt's Standard", the company got world-famous.  It won price medallions at different exhibitions, including gold medallions in Vienna and in Leipzig. His instruments are know for “artistic modeling and workmanship, …, careful selection of wood for its acoustical properties; accurately proportioned and capitally finished in every detail.”
The label complete with the trademark "Schmidt's Standard" reads:
Copy of Nicolaus Amati, fecit E. Reinhold Schmidt, Saxony

A  powerful scroll full of character. The top is from fine-grained spruce, the one-piece back from beautiful tiger maple. Ribs of matching maple. Varnish is a deep glowing red amber color. Some of the most gorgeous wood I have seen. Violin is lined and blocked. Two fine saddle cracks about 3 inches long on the top. Some scratches and scrapes from age. Some worn edges. Overall length just over 23", top just over 14 1/8".

I estimate the violin is from 1903 to 1910s, since beginning in the 1920s, by US import laws, the label would have to say “Made in Germany".

Here's someone playing a Schmidt violin on youtube. She estimates the violin to be about $4900

Payment by PayPal only.  Insurance is required and calculated at the end (about $1 for every $100 final price).  Please wait for me to send invoice before paying.  Washington state winners pay 9.5% sales tax.
