This is the most unique document in our collection.

Original script and NBC handwritten envelope for Fred Allen - Orson Welles broadcast for December 26, 1943.  All marked up "Orson Welles Sick -- Couldn't Make It."

This comes from the personal collection of Fred Allen's manager, "Uncle Jim" Harkins.  It has been carefully preserved for decades in the vaults of an old family collection.

The 27-page script is in strong condition because it apparently was never roughed up by the performers at the microphone -- the broadcast appears to have been cancelled. (Perhaps a radio historian can write in supplying more info?)   The 69-year-old paper clip is rusty and leaving a rust silhouette on the front and back page.  The brown NBC envelope is in tatters, and the front is separated from the back.  Clear tape holds together what remains of it.  Included only as an interesting historical complement to the script.

All of our collectibles come with a money-back guarantee of satisfaction.

IMPORTANT REVISION:

A fellow eBayer was kind enough to write us, informing that audio tapes of this broadcast are today in circulation.  One likely scenario is that Orson Welles or his people phoned in to postpone the broadcast, whereupon Uncle Jim scribbled a cancellation note on the script, and then Mr. Welles reversed himself and showed up, or rescheduled.
