You are bidding on an ORIGINAL Black and White photograph created by Robert Beckhard. Mr. Beckhard was a nationally recognized music composer and professional photographer.   Since the early 1960s Mr. Beckhard worked for major newspapers and magazines, and produced many independent photo series.  (130 East 24th Street New York 10, New York)

I recently acquired a collection of Mr. Beckhard’s Black and White original photographs from an estate auction.  These AMAZING photographs capture the daily lives of New Yorkers during the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s.  As you look at these photos and you realize that since New York City has changed, people have changed, times have changed, but the electric atmosphere in New York will never go away.  Most of these photos were taken on the streets of the city where they say if you are in the street, you see it. You see everything on the street!  When you look at the faces in these photos you see familiar images that transcend time.  Captured in these photos is the innocence of childhood and transformation of time that shows on the faces of the subjects of these photos.

This is an incredible collection by a professional photographer who captures the hearts and minds of the observer.  I am proud to offer these photos at an extremely reasonable opening bid. To my knowledge these photos have been included in many exhibits presented by Mr. Beckhard over the years and have NEVER been reproduced for sale. There are many photos available so please check my other postings. I will be happy to combine several photos at No Additional Charge for shipping together.

This photo was produced on quality photographic paper. There are no rips or tears and this is a guaranteed ORIGINAL photograph, not a reproduction.  It shows the reflection of a young boy looking through the glass of a NYC Pizza shop.  (Notice the 15 cent pizza pie price!)  The location of the photo is most likely somewhere in Manhattan.

Shipping for $3.50 within the U.S.A. and will include tracking and delivery confirmation.

ROBERT L. BECKHARD, age 91, died May 28, 2009, in New York, New York. Beloved husband to Patricia Knight Beckhard.  Born and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts, he was a passionate musician and student of English music from the early 20th century. He studied at the Boston University College of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, and Harvard University. During the late 1940s he was an editor of music and text material at G. Schirmer Inc., working with such composers as Kurt Weill, Percy Grainger, and William Schuman. Bob composed over 200 original published choral and piano works, and his compositions have been performed by numerous professional and school choruses. Bob was also an accomplished professional photographer, whose images have been publicly exhibited in New York City and Putnam County, New York, and published in books and magazines. His evocative black and white photography illustrated two books by Frances F. Dunwell: "The Hudson River Highlands" and "The Hudson: America's River." He taught photography on Friday nights at the Garrison Art Center for fifteen years, from the 1970s into the 1980s.  He and Pat loved their cottage near the Hudson in Garrison, where Bob spent countless happy hours tending his vegetable garden. He will be greatly missed by his family and his wide circle of friends.
