Plant Category: Orchids & Tropicals

Catasetum tenebrosum 'St. Francis' AM/AOS x Sib In Bloom

What this is:

Catasetum are part of the Cymbidieae tribe, and tenebrosum is a species native to northern South America (Venezuela, Columbia, Peru). The 'St Francis' cultivar was awarded an AM/AOS in 1971, is a very well known variety, and quite desirable.

Normally blooming in the Spring, tenebrosum flowers are noted for their dark sepals and petals that have been used in hybrids to pass on that trait. Flowers average about 1 1/2" to 2 /2", and number up to almost 30 flowers in the best cultivars. A blossom from the plant offered is shown above left.

Catasetums are typically deciduous and drop their leaves for a Winter rest. The tenebrosum species does not require a long rest period and I grow them without a distinct rest period at all, with the Cattleya.

What you are bidding on:

This auction is for two (2) Catasetum tenebrosum 'St. Francis' AM/AOS x sib in bloom. The plants are from the same mother plant and are blooming for the first time (flowers are smaller and not as numerous as they should be during subsequent flowering). The plants offered are shown above right, and are in a 5"pot.

Buy with confidence:

This is your source of high quality orchids from an honest, knowledgeable seller.

Terms and conditions of sale. Please read and understand the terms and conditions of sale which are shown below before bidding. If you do not agree to these terms and conditions, please refrain from bidding.

Please add $10 to the winning bid amount for packing and shipping. All packages will be delivered via USPS Priority Mail unless arranged otherwise, in which case shipping and handling charges will be adjusted accordingly. U.S. destinations only, please.

If do want to ship via USPS, you may want to have them hold the shipment at your local post office so you can pick it up there, rather than have the postman leave it at your residence if no one is available to receive it immediately.

The local postmaster will not insure perishables.

If you are in an area which is currently experiencing extreme temperatures (i.e., lower than 50F or higher than 90F) you are urged to ship via FedEx Second Day or Standard Overnight. While the shipment will be packed well and provided with protection labels, the less time it takes a shipment to get to you, the less chance of damage. Destinations other than CA, OR,WA, AZ, ID, NV, UT, and CO take an additional day regardless of the FedEx service selected. If you have a FedEx account, the shipping cost can be charged to your account. If choosing FedEx shipping, please include a phone number where FedEx can contact you if necessary.

Arizona shipments require pesticide dipping at an additional charge.

Responsibility for shipment:

Buyer assumes all responsibility for items purchased from the point when the shipment is made.

You may make payment by personal check or cashier's check sent directly to me. If you send a personal check, your purchase will be sent after the check clears. Credit card payments may be made through PayPal using my email address as the payee. Winning bidders are asked to submit payment within three days of auction end.

More information:
