Up for sale here is an original, vintage eames era work by Listed American Painter, sculptor and potter   William August Hoffman Jr. (1920-2011).  This work is a hand decorated and sculpted stoneware art pottery vase finished in light blue glazes.  The vase measures 5 3/4 inches wide by 8 1/4 inches in height and has an almost square type bottom and round top.  The piece is signed with an incised signature "Hof" and dated 52 for 1952.  The vase is in very good condition with no chips , cracks or scratches.  William Hoffman is listed  in the 1993-1994 edition of the popular artist historical / biographical book Who Was Who in American Art by R.R. Bowker 20th Edition.  According to the Who's Who in American Art Book . Mr. Hoffman was born in Roswell New Mexico.  He studied art and ceramics at the Unversity of New Mexico and the Portales Art Association in 1940, The Art Institute of Chicago in 1949 and 1950, the University of Southern California, Los Angeles in 1951 and received a Masters in Fine Art from New York State University in Alfred, New York.  Willam Hoffman has works in the collections of St. Mary's College, South Bend Indiana, Kessel Ceramics Collection in Whitewater, Wisconsin and several other private collections.  He had one man shows at St. Mary's College in 1969, the Chicago Public Library in 1967, Lewis Towers Gallery at Loyola University in 1973.Valpraiso University in Indiana in 1989, Fairweather Hardin Galleries in Chicago in 1981, 1984, and 1987 and others.  His teaching career included Instructor of Design and Ceramics at Louisiana State University 1957-1958, Instructor and designer at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1958 to 1970, Instructor in Art Pottery at Loyola University of Chicago 1970 to 1983.  He is also listed in the book the 1989 , 400 page book the Chicago Art Review by Les Krantz that also has a picture of one of his modern art sculptures in it.  Other exhibits included a three person , 1965 Show at the Art Institute of Chicago with WPA painter and sculptor Leah Balsham and a 1951 group exhibition at the New Mexico Art Museum in Rosewell , New Mexico. Thank you for visting our store on ebay.  Shipping to Europe is $49.00. Shipping to Canada is $29.00  International bidders are responsible for all import and VAT taxes / duties.
