This is a nice Prosser cover of the "They Opened the Door to Space" X-Series covers.  Unique in and of themselves, this beauty is signed by 6 NASA/NACA and USAF test pilots, and true aviation pioneers..

It is signed by:

MGEN Fred J. Ascani - considered the Father of Modern Flight Test Engineering, he was #2 under Al Boyd at Wright Pat during the dawn of real test flight.  A nominee for the National Aviation Hall of Fame (and a no brainer for induction), he also flew the X-1 and other aircraft, and set a speed record winning the Thompson Trophy in 1951.

BGEN Frank K. "Pete" Everest:- Also a premier test pilot, he also flew the X-1 and X-1A.  Setting a world speed record in the X-1A, he also set altitude records.  Inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame.

Chuck Tucker  - Northrop Test Pilot who flew the first flight of this bird, and notated such by his signature.  He also flew the Flying Wings for Northrop - and got off the ground at Pearl Harbor scoring an aerial victory.

Stan Butchart  - NACA/NASA test pilot who also flew both models of the D-558, and did drops for the X-1, and towed the early Lifting Body the M2-F1.  Also a board operator during X-15 missions, he is also known for flying top cover until George HW Bush was rescued after being shot down during WWII.  A difficult signature to obtain back in the day.

John Griffith  - NACA test pilot who also flew the X-1, and both D-558's.  One of the first civilians to break the speed of sound.

George Cooper  - NACA/NASA research test pilot at Ames Research Center, he flew many aircraft during his tenure.

Sadly we’ve lost all of these giants except for George Cooper – who is over 90.
