I'd read the book during it's initial release, loved it, and loaned it to my cousin who apparently felt the same way; I never got it back. This purchase was to continue my collection of the series. The story itself moves well, creates vivid action scenes and emotions between the characters. It does a great job of describing a below-the-surface world of intrigue without getting lost in detail, and still reflects much of the social norms of the time that it was published (1980). The central character is credible, outgoing but still has his share of flaws. It would be difficult to make a character analogy with today's mainstream movies in the same way that there is no modern day Humphrey Bogart. A nice read.
First in the Nicholas Linnear series of novels (followed by The Miko, White Ninja, The Kaisho, Floating City, and Second Skin). A tale of love, revenge, and one of the first fictional books to deal with Ninjutsu (and arguably one of the best works of fiction on the topic as well). Eric Lustbader is a master author, and this is one of his best.
The book arrived at my resident in great conduction and the price was right.

The book is a happa character and uses martial arts to overcome evil. Thrilling episodes.Unexpected tales of Japan and Americia. Good use of Japanese words to transulate in action.
