Very High Performance EVEREST Tube! his AN/PVS-14A was built using an ITT F9815 Very
High Performance EVEREST tube having a PhotoCathode response of 2,311 MicroAmperes per
lumen at 2856 degrees Kelvin color temperature, a resolution of 72 line pairs per
millimeter and Signal to Noise Ratio of 25.7!
The Wilcox Engineering & Research AN/PVS-14A product line is the first to use Stainless
Steel 2-56 x 1/4 inch cap screws, as seen in the picture below, to hold the optical and
battery assemblies together. My many years of working on AN/PVS-14s used in the Gulf
wars in support of the 1033 Program, I have seen the standard steel alloy black oxide cap
screws, used in the USGI AN/PVS-14s rust. It is this attention to detail and years of
experience that enables Wilcox Engineering & Research to be the Vanguard of Electro-Optic
innovation for Military and Law Enforcement Advanced Applications. Others may copy but
none will equal our quality, performance, or strive towards perfection.

The AN/PVS-14A differs from the original AN/PVS-14 as follows:
- The use of the newest and best Gen III image intensifier, that being the EVEREST which exceeds the Pinnacle tubes in their design and
quality. So why are you looking to buy a
PVS-14 from someone using older technology image intensifiers having 64 lp/mm or spend $7,495.00 on one having 72lp/mm Pinnacle? These EVEREST tubes used in the AN/PVS-14A are 72lp/mm
which provide greater detail than 64 lp/mm tubes. Why should you buy a 72lp/mm tube
AN/PVS-14? The answer is simple; Higher Definition
images are produced by a 72lp/mm tube than the 64 lp/mm tube. If you wanted a High Definition TV, you would
settle for 720p when you could buy a 1080p TV or if you have the money and want
the best you would buy the newest 4k TVs.
The same is true for my AN/PVS-14As and check out the price for what
others are selling 64lp/mm AN/PVS-14s for.
You will find out that the AN/PVS-14A provides a High Definition image
at a lower cost than a lot of the 64 lp/mm PVS-14s are selling for.
- The Single AA battery version has a screw on battery cap made of metal. The AA battery
rests in a machined brass tube, which has an O-ring on the outside diameter threads. The
cap also has an internal O-ring. The use of two O-rings ensures a positive seal. This
means no more battery chemical leakage into the switch area or on to the printed circuit
board. The new battery cap is tethered to the battery housing making it unlikely that
you loose the cap when changing the battery.
- The lanyard lugs in the aft section have been replaced with a large boss area of thick
plastic shaped in a semi circle, as depicted below. This gives greater strength to the
lanyard attachment points and longer product life.
- The eyepiece eyecup ring has been redesigned to accept the better AN/PVS-7A eyecup.
The standard USGI eyecup can also be used. This is accomplished by removable eyecup
rings, which screw on, or off. The PVS-7A eyecup (left side) is more comfortable,
rugged, and shields more light than the original AN/PVS-14 eyecup (right side), and comes
standard with our new AN/PVS-14As. Since the eyecup rings are easily removed, you can
use the AN/PVS-14A without an eyecup and view the full 30mm-lens aperture! This feature
is ONLY available from Wilcox Engineering & Research, the Vanguard of better ideas for
the Military and Law Enforcement.
- A newly designed manual gain control knob has a shroud over the mounting hardware.
This helps keep salt and sand from corroding the Manual Gain Control mounting
- This AN/PVS-14A is built using a black anodized Aircraft Grade Aluminum infinity stop
ring, which is sometimes used to clamp weapons mounts and other accessories onto. Most
PVS-14s have the plastic ring which flexes too much to properly hold such accessories.

The advantage of an Autogated tube is that they are more tolerate of higher ambient light
levels that standard Gen III tubes. This makes this AN/PVS-14A better for Military and
Law Enforcement Operations.
People ask me: Why should I buy from you when there are PVS-14s being sold for over
$5,400.00 and a PVS-14 having 72lp/mm that is stated to be: "The Cream of the Crop!!!" selling for $7,495.00 still using the older Pinnacle Technology" that must be better than yours?" My answer to those folks that ask this is: Peace of mind.
When Customers buy from me, they don't have to worry about:
- The level of performance or image quality. All of my AN/PVS-14A products have the
specification posted as well as what the image quality is for that product. I would say
compare my AN/PVS-14A to the others, but they don't show their tube's performance taken
from the tube data sheet, do they?
- Using your AN/PVS-14A on a weapon only to have black spots form seen after firing the
weapon a few times. I provide guidance as to my AN/PVS-14A's capability for use in the
weapons mounted configuration and work with my Customers to provide a unit having a tube
that will withstand weapons recoil and provide years of trouble free operation.
- What to do after a few months or so when their PVS-14 stops working. This is because I

with your purchase. I always provide my Customer with the latest edition of the -10 TM
Operator's Manual. Few sellers include this document with their equipment and leave
their customers "in the dark."
- Where to go for additional accessories. I can provide all accessories one could want
for the AN/PVS-14A. I sell them at a discount to members of Law Enforcement and Active
Duty Military as well as those that purchase equipment from me.

better than the MilSpec both in image quality and performance. I also provide my
