This is one of his stand-alone books that doesn't include the wonderful Myron Bolitar character from many of his others, and it certainly doesn't need him to keep you frustrated, tense, and trying to figure out what is really going on. And the end just blew me away. A wonderful price for hours of entertainment. Read it again in 3 years, and it's like new again.

At the beginning of the book, a doctor is critically injured in an apparent break-in, his wife is killed, and their six month old is missing. Then a ransom note arrives and the doctor, who had flatlined but then survived, goes to the drop off which goes awry. The title of the book refers to his quest for a second chance at recovering his kidnapped child. If you've read the works of Harlan Coben, this is among the great ones. It is extremely engaging, surprising, and immensely clever. It was a true "page-turner" - just wonderful.
The story started off interesting, but then it slowed down to a crawl. A baby is kidnapped and not s"een for eighteen months. There are two really good "twists and turns toward the end which was surprising, but I was disappointed in the whole book. This is the only book that I will probably read by this author since there are better suspense writers than Coben.
Great mystery. Plenty of twists & turns in the plot. This author deserves more recognition. I will certainly be buying more of his books.
