Saved my sanity, great information.
I wish I had known of this book when actually having LPR. I could have relaxed in knowing I wasn't nuts, lol. And, would have known some of the "more than likely" triggers....and that yes, there are some food items that are very painful to some and not to others...i.e. Bananas. For me it was avocado which sounded cool and soothing, which was a trigger for me. Very educational, and certainly give you emotional support. I thought I'd never get to eat anything with flavor again..but, following this guideline for almost 2 years, I found out I could have a "tiny" amount with no horrible side effects as tolerance level had come up some. So, even a tiny bit is better than having "none". I couldn't even test taste the foods I was cooking for family...I would cry because I wanted just a little....and the days finally came. Great book, saved my sanity.Read full review

Some good informtion.
Very good information but the receipes are a bit over my cooking talents. I thought they would be more simple so on that note I'm disappointed. I like the pages for the acidity of the different foods. There is no recommendation for the type of flour to use and it is confusing on one list an item like avacado is not recommended and then on another list avacado is okay. I guess it is trial and error to bring back what my body will accept and not react to.

Not sure I can trust everything said after such a screwup about bread
Not sure I can really trust what they say...there's a comment about bread on page 59 I believe, maybe 49...They say the bible mentions it but they say bread was not really being baked until the middle-ages, that bread was more of a gruel... that's almost a quote. That's WRONG as wrong can be for the Bible DOES mention and MORE than mentions bread being baked and that's all thru the entire Bible. The Feast of Passover has been followed for thousands of years, even before Christ's time, and if one remembers, Jesus broke bread with his followers and you cannot do that with gruel! after reading that statement, and also the statements of patting themselves on the backs (ie no-one else ever conceived of what they are saying etc.) I can go to assuming some of the facts are correct but after that (to me) major misstatement I will be more aware of what's being put forth. Possibly good material and hopefully the recipes will be tasty, those have yet to be tried. I just couldn't get over the authors stating what they did about baked bread yet it's documented in the bible (probably never read nor paid attention) and most likely documented elsewhere that it WASNT gruel...but that's my opinion, I just couldn't get over such an error of fact.Read full review

Great for GERD, no info for diverticulus at the same time.
I have acid reflux and diverticulitis. I researched for over a year for info regarding these two illnesses. The book ties up the GERD reflux info really well but doesn't (so far as I haven't finished reading yet) doesn't address having diverticulitis at the same time. Therefore, the recipes with all the nuts and seeds aren't good for me. Of course, I can just eliminate them but what I really need is for them to re-write the book and include having diverticulitis at the same time as acid reflux. I DO recommend this book highly for those that have acid reflux....very informative.

This book has a lot of good information. The recipes are a little hard to follow, though, as they call for quite a few "special" ingredients, which I don't have access to. There are some that I can use replacements in, I suppose, e.g. using regular mushrooms instead of shiitake or the like. I will be using crab meat instead of scallops, since I don't know where in my area to get scallops, esp. at this holiday season, where I would have to drive into a lot of traffic to go where I might find scallops.
