This book was published side-by-side in four languages.  The introductory comment as well as the description for each  photograph are presented in Ukrainian, English, German and French.

Several photographs of the many images included in the book have been included in this listing.  The first two photographs are of the cover of front and back covers of the dust, where many images have been placed.

An Introductory comment from the book -----

Ukraine lies in the geographical center of Europe. Its territory is larger than that of France or Germany, and its population is the second largest among Slavic nations. There are few places on our planet with a climate as favorable for living, and a soil as fertile as Ukraine with its unique black earth.

Rich in various mineral resources, Ukraine is a land of striking scenic beauty. The hoary Carpathian Mountains in the west grow into the emerald-green alpine meadows of Hutsulshchyna and the rolling hills of Podillia. Farther east lies Polissia with its shady groves and thick forests. From there, endless flat steppe stretches south all the way to the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. These endless open spaces are crisscrossed by tempestuous or leisurely slow rivers ­the Dnieper, the Buh, the Desna, the Teteriv, the Danube and the Cheremosh ­and dotted with serene turquoise-blue lakes like so many eyes gazing at the sky.

Since time out of mind, Ukraine has been famous for its golden wheat fields. «I have, for I live off the land,» Nestor the Chronicler wrote. Ukraine is often called the breadbasket of Europe. Indeed, it has always shared its bread with other nations.

But its generous, God-blessed land and the wealth gathered on it by the tire­less work of its people would at all times tempt invaders.

One sage said: «Fortunate is the people that has no history of its own. Unfortunately, the entire history of Ukraine is that of uncompromising, life­-and-death struggle for freedom and independence. Every inch of its soil is sprinkled with the blood of many generations. And yet for all the evil storms that raged over Ukraine and the severe trials that fell to the lot of its people, this nation did not fall to its knees or disappear from the face of the earth. It held out against all odds and preserved its national identity and dignity. Today, it is building its own state and strengthening its good-neighborly rela­tions with other nations.
