Gregory Maguire takes a classic fairy tale or story and gives it a twist in reality's direction. He looks at the other side of the coin, there are always two sides to each story and he always tells the other side's point of view on things. Collecting Maguire's books as I do, I love to read these to my sons at night. I would suggest if you have a taste for the twisted or the unusual or are sick of the innocent goody too shoes and her impossible standards and high morals, these books are the shot of realism and wit with just a dash of sarcasism to draw you in and then capture you forever. These books are addictive.
A few months ago, I was looking for a new book, as I am an avid reader. Peeking from the shelves at a local store was a copy of Gregory Maguire's novel, Wicked. I was quickly enchanted by Maguire's writing style, not to mention the rapidity with which I fell in love with the "wicked witch". As soon as I was finished with this novel, I had to have more...and quickly. Thus began the ebay search. Here is where I found Mirror, Mirror, also by Maguire. The copy I received was in pristine condition. I could not have found a more gently cared for copy if I had gone to a book store to purchase. And of course, my copy was very reasonably priced. I have finished this novel, and I have even purchased others by the same author. I will continue to add to my library via Ebay. I am, as you might say, "hooked"!Read full review

Gregory Maguire is an excellent writer. Taking the fairy tales from our childhood and making them exciting all over again as adults, he weaves a new twist on old tales. Couldn't get enough of this book. Takes a whole new look at fairy tales and the way he turns the perspective of how we viewed happily ever after is genius. This is a must read!
Great book. Highly recomended. Gives a new twist to an ordinary fairy tale.AWESOME I like the idea that you sometimes wonder were he is going with the story, and whom he is talking about. You find yourself compelled to keep turning the pages, and very hard to put down. You need to know what happens next. The elves have different names but you still now whom he is talking about.Bianca is more carefree, and fun.
