                             I bought this White's AF-108 mine detector from ( W.J. Ford Surplus Enterprises ) 9 years ago. Upon receiving the unit I opened it up to check to makes sure it was all there and it was. I closed up the case and put the unit in my closet where it has not been touched for 9 years now.  I am the owner of several different military mine detectors and Metal Detectors. It was my intention to assemble and use the AF-108  but I have decided that I already have enough metal detectors to fulfill my needs and thus I am selling the AF-108.  I have listed this unit as used. However, in my own humble opinion through direct examination of this unit,  I am 99% sure in my own mind that this unit is NEW OLD STOCK and has never been assembled or used in the field.  I did not want assemble or test the unit myself for fear of marking it in some way and taking away from the Brand New look. You will see that I have taken a photo of one of the several NATO STOCK TAGS which are on the case of the AF-108.  You will see ( Condition: E ) I have done some research into what this classification means. Condition E,  means the unit can be made operational with minimal attention. Minimal attention in this case I  most certainly believe is referring to the fact that you will have to purchase 4 D size batteries to make the AF-108 operational. When these units were issued out to personnel in the military they would have been supplied with batteries and thus fully operational.   I am including an ( Operator's Manual ) and some other information about the AF-108 I found on the internet. The White's AF-108 Mine Detector uses the PULSE system to detect very small size pieces of metal associated with explosive mines. It would make an very high quality metal detector for the treasure hunter. Please, read my feedback, you will see that those I have done business with in the past feel I have described items I have sold very well.  Please, email me with any questions you may have about this unit before you bid.  I am starting this auction at significantly below the price I paid for this unit.  The shipping weight on this item is 25- 30 pounds approx.  I wrote the ( White's Electronic Company) and ask them the original selling price of the AF-108. They told me that, to buy an individual single unit it would cost 1375 British Pounds Sterling. In U.S. Dollars  AT TODAY"S EXCHANGE RATE of  One English Pound equal $1.57.  The AF-108 would new be worth $2158.00.  You can in this auction buy an AF-108 at a fraction of the original selling price.
                                          NOTE:  In an effort to completely satisfy the winning bidder I have decided on the following,  If the winning bidder so desires, I will assemble and test the unit itself to make sure it is completely functional.  Should there be any problem with the unit I will  COMPLETELY REFUND  THE ENTIRE SUM OF THE BID BACK TO THE WINNING BIDDER.  I will be as careful as possible not to mark the unit in the process. To repeat again I believe this unit is NEW OLD STOCK. Thank you.
