Keyboard is a good value for the price. Battery does work well for the entire day with office usage like excel and word. With a fair amount of use for entertainment, videos saved to drive and YouTube it works well for the average business day. The one problem I have is that the function keys are stuck to where I have to hit the function button in order to use the regular key, i.e. page up, page down etc. That drives me a bit nuts since I use them quite a bit.

These Power Covers are brand new in box, but old stock. Due to sitting in their boxes since roughly late-2013, the 4 internal Lithium Ion battery's have slowly discharged below their cut off voltage, so are unable to be recharged, and means that the Power Cover is useless except for a sturdy keyboard/touchpad without the backlight. These suiposably can be repaired if you don't mind doing some surgery on your Power Cover, you can look up "how to bring a Surface Power Cover back from the dead" for directions on how to do it. I personally did not have success with bringing the Power cover back to life, but i'm not sure exactly why, as the Lithium cells came back to life once I brought the manually back up to a stable voltage. It just say's its charging but the percentage never changes. Your might have more success with yours.Read full review

New looking but will not charge or take one it's a ongoing problem with the power cover it's only worth $20 as is the type cover 2 now just twice as heavy with out a light up keyboard contacted the company to try to work something out because I need a keyboard is no good they know these keyboards aren't 100% working as described in don't have time to wait for a replacement or try for another this is my second try I'm not dumb enough for a third

Although it makes your Surface a little heavy, this unit is great for its power features and the function key lineup across the top. The touch mouse is good, but I wish the two buttons were a little larger and raised for tactile feel.

If you use your Microsoft Surface away from mains power, this keyboard plus battery is highly recommended. Of course, it does roughly double the thickness and weight of the tablet, but gives a lot longer battery life plus a good keyboard, turning the Surface into a mini laptop.
