This is our 3rd electric smoker and this thing is awesome. Obviously there are better, more expensive smokers out there. But for the price, this one is hard to beat. It's well insulated and maintains heat when smoking in colder temperatures. Digital controls are simple and easy to use. The LED display can be hard to read in bright sunlight and I usually need to shade it with my hand, but can't complain much there. This smoker seems to heat more evenly than our other electric smokers. The side loading mechanism for adding chips is great, it allows you to continuously add smoke without opening the door and losing smoke/heat. The water tray is huge and I haven't smoked anything yet that required me to refill it during the cooking process (again, allowing you to keep the door closed longer). There is a bottom pan that can be removed for easy cleaning. Bang for buck, I love this smoker.Read full review

Very poor quality during the manufacturing process. Weld points off, nothing fits like it should. Chip tray doesn't fit right and load tube very difficult to take out and reinstall. Beyond that it is easy to use.

I am very impressed with the Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Black Electric Digital Smoker, Top Controller. Smoker produced a product that was consistent and predictable. Racks are sturdy and easy to clean as were all components of smoker. The tray for the wood chips has sharp edges so you need to be careful when handling. The water pan could be a bit larger to keep the meat juices from falling on the box that shields the heating element. Meat juices burn on to box and are difficult to clean. This smoker holds the same amount of product that my two Little Chief Smokers the Masterbuilt smoker replaced. I recommend this product. Good value.

Unit is well insulated, so no hot spots on sides and door, if brushed against. Have used a dozen times in past few months since new, and no issues with anything. All has performed as expected. Being a low temperature unit, naturally longer cooking time is required as compared to grilling. Advantages though, are : even meat temperture whether loading one tray or all, maintaining moisture, longer window of time to achieve perfect tenderness without accidentally over cooking. Construction and fit of components is very good. Racks, water pan, chip pan, are heavy enough gauge so as to not be flimsy. While it is not built as heavy as units intended to yield constant use, and provide years of service, it is a great value for the price, and if maintained with proper cleaning, should well satisfy the user. For brisket, ribs, chicken, I use rub, and fill water pan with baste. I foil wrap when core temperature is achieved, then return to cooker for a little longer cooking, before turning off unit and let wrapped meat cool down inside the smoker. For sausage, I just turn links when color is right. I do add wood chips regularly, for all meats, until about 3/4 cooked. Results have been fantastic. Yes, there was at first a noticeable flavor difference from BBQ grilling or smoker with open flame, but now since the cabinet is fully seasoned, and I have learned smoke control, the taste is as good to me as any I have done with charcoal or wood.Read full review
