This is an out of production vintage Mantua Clinchfield Railroad Old Time 1880s-1900s Style Steam Locomotive and Tender Limited Edition w/ Certificate 4-6-0 `Ten Wheeler`. Condition:
This model is in very good used condition. I see nothing broken, damaged, or missing. The motor cover is present. The wire railings are intact. The finish is glossy. It looks as if this was just bought. Even the metal wheels have extra shine,
I test ran this loco and it works well forward and reverse. The headlamp works. I didn't lubricate the main gear and the motor bearing; it ran well in both directions. These are hardy locos. I recommend proper and periodic lubrication for all operating locomotives, but this one will get you started right out of the box.
This is an impressive locomative fresh from the past. The original box is a special Mantua Limited Edition box with certificate of Authority. The box is a deep red with gold lettering. The foam model holder is is perfect shape. There is a small, sealed bag with some additional parts.
Also included is the original Mantua registration card and lubrication instructions. Comment:
This would make a nice addition to your Clinchfield Railroad collection or layout.
These are called HO but I believe they are OO, slightly larger than HO, the scale used in Britain (about 1:76 versus about 1:87).
This is a very special and very hard to find locomotive in my experience. We keep our models in an above-ground, conditioned, smoke-free, and pet-free room. Vintage models may have been stored anywhere before I acquired them. This model is out of production and no longer available from the maker. All that ever will be of this model are in the hands of dealers as old stock or in the hands of collectors. It becomes more and more difficult to find these models as time goes on. Be sure to get one while you still can, if you want one, or even think you will want one.For ages 12 and up. Do You Like This?
