About Us

Sarah Elizabeth Lepardo is the founder of Sarah Elizabeth Gallery, a global resource for fine quality, original, historical garments from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.  She is a serious collector and dealer in early American uniforms and vintage couture clothing.  A great number of her acquisitions have been deaccessioned from important American museums and historical societies such as The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and The National Heritage Museum.  Her high profile client list includes national and international museums and private collectors.  The History Channel filmed Sarah with her collection for an American Picker’s Civil War special.  Recently rated the number three weekly cable television show, American Pickers has over 6.6 million viewers.

Sarah’s experience in the fashion industry began at the age of four when she would accompany her mother on business trips to Manhattan’s garment district.  Her passion for historical clothing began the first time she saw a hoopskirt.  Growing up in Gettysburg she immersed herself in history, studying and collecting original garments and Civil War uniforms.  Throughout high school she participated in historical fashion workshops and attended summer classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology.   As a guest speaker, Sarah taught high school students about Civil War era women’s clothing.  Through an understanding of what women wore and why, the students gain insight into the role of women in society.

Sarah graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing.  While attending FIT she studied in France and Italy, meeting with the CEO’s, designers and representatives from Gucci, Versace, Missoni and Yves Saint Laurent.  Prior to graduation, she joined David Elizabeth Jewelry where she was responsible for product development and sourcing factories in China.  Sarah exhibited at major tradeshows in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, New York and Tucson.  Her experience included working with show management, executing preshow marketing, media kits, display design, product placement and post show follow ups.
