Ever since Oskar Barnack, the original development manager at Leitz, created the world's first 35mm camera in 1913, Leitz/Leica has managed to stay convincingly on-top of the 35mm world. Ernest Leitz’s undying commitment to perfection has certainly continued to be the underlying standard of this company, over the last 100 years no other photo equipment manufacturer has been able to measure up to Leica in terms of overall construction quality or image results. The fact that Leica/Leitz cameras and lenses that were built over 70 years ago still outperform many of today’s high-dollar equipment is a true testament to how well they were made.
The Leica M3 is one of the most beloved 35mm cameras in existence. Its popularity has always been high, though it seems to be even more popular today than it ever was in its 68 years history. After using one it is easy to see why, they are a tremendous joy with photographic results that still astonish, greatly outperforming modern cameras.
The M3 was first introduced in 1954 with a production run until 1966. It underwent many revisions and improvements over its 14 year run . This particular M3 was produced in 1963 and contains the bulk of, and every major, improvement. It has single stroke advance with the frame preview selector lever to switch between frame lines

Cosmetically camera is very clean, no corrosion, dings or dents. Vulcanite is original and still fresh, just one tiny chip at baseplate hinge point. Satin chrome is beautiful. A couple of light bright marks are evident upon close inspection, main one located just above the “L” on the Leica logo. These are very minor. Viewfinder is clean and clear, no haze or debris. Frame lines are clear. The included Leica Meter MC has some bright marks and minor scratches. Meter shows movement that seems correct, not sure of the accuracy. Eveready case shows minor ware.
