Seller assumes all responsibility for this listing.
For sale is a extremely rare vintage Cup protector. The brand is EDW.K.Tayon Philada. I have no idea when it was made, but I imagine late 1800's to early 1900's. I can pretty much guarantee you wont see another one on EBay. It does show its age though. The straps are made of fabric and still move just fine, but the elastic section that is attached to the ends of the straps is old and brittle as to be expected with something so old. The elastic on one of the leg straps is ripped and has detached which might be fixable if someone wanted to try and restore this thing. One waist straps leather is also torn, but still attached to the unit. The cup shows signs of use and has a slight dent in the front. I am very sure the thing hasn't been used in a very long time though and I haven't tried cleaning it for fear of ruining it. Thanks for looking and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

On Sep-18-12 at 21:42:48 PDT, seller added the following information:

I was graciously given some more information about this item from a fellow ebayer. He said" This cup was made by the Edward K Tryon Company of Philadelphia, PA. The company was founded in 1811 as a firearms manufacturer. It was known as Edw. K. Tryon and Jr. and Co. In 1905 the company was purchased by a group of investors and renamed Edw. K. Tryon Co. The trademark logo that is on this item was filed for at the US Patent office on September 11, 1906. Therefore it means this item was produced sometime after that date. The company closed in 1952. The process of refining aluminum before the 1920s was too expensive to be mass produced items so I am guessing that this cup was produced sometime between 1920 and 1952." This was from themickster who seems to be extremely knowledgeable of the subject. Thanks for the extra info.
