Neck Mortise/Body Tenon/DOVETAIL jigs -
Loosely based on the Woolsen neck jig, this is my adaptation – a new compact design which allows the luthier to cut the neck joint to precisely match the existing angle of the soundboard. A perfect match every time with no measurement, no guesswork, and no 14th fret hump! Clamp the neck blank in place and the jig pivots based on the location of the bridge and the angle of the soundboard – tighten down two wing nuts to lock the jig into position, position the routing template to set the tenon or dovetail length (NEW FEATURE!), then simply cut with your router (guide bushing, shallow pattern-cutting , or dovetail bit required). It works GREAT for neck reset jobs too, once you remove the fretboard. I use these production-ready jigs regularly in my shop (www.jsimpsonguitars.com) with accurate, consistent results.
Both the neck and body jigs have been redesigned, now completely adjustable joint length for both Mortise/Tenon AND Dovetail joints. Many builders have contacted me asking if the jig will accommodate ukuleles and smaller-heeled guitar necks...and now it does. Also, not all necks are perfectly square with the body and my redesigned setup is adjustable to accommodate custom configurations. Simply clamp the jig where you want the mortise and route with the same bit you used on the neck tenon. The single clamping pad on the body jig allows for “wedge” body guitars as well! All clamping surfaces are cork-lined to protect the body and neck.
Both Dovetail AND Tenon routing templates included!
