Very good radio... Very strong transmitter, but the bad side of radio.. It really generates alot of heat because of the heatsink inside the back of the radio.. The nice thing.. it needs not stupid docking station, no nothing just power adapter and antenna thats it.. To solve the heat problem,, take a CPU FAN or something small and put in the back of the radio... make sure the fan is pointed towards the radio. be sure back clip is removed for full heat removal... And since doing that.. the radio is cold to the touch... and probably will last then 2 years. But since this mostly a house radio anyway.. just the setup i use works very well as shown in the picture... And overheating solved!... VERY COLD TO THE TOUCH... HEAT IS THE #1 killer OF electronics.. Getting rid of the heat will greatly extend the life of the device.Read full review

Sirius satellite radio (Also XM radio, since they have merged into one) is very addictive once you start listening to it. Crystal clear reception coast to coast and you can listen to any type of music you want (commercial free) or talk shows/news programs. I listen to CNBC when I'm in the car (it is the audio portion of the TV channel which is what I watch when I'm home in front of the TV). Also, I listen to Fox news and CNN news. I do not miss my local radio channels at all and use the internet to get my local news. The starmate radio is an inexpensive way to get Sirius radio. You dont have to buy expensive radio receivers. The signal is identical on a $400 radio vs. a $30 radio. Try it. You'll love it. The subscription is 12.95 for your first radio and $6.99 for your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. VERY inexpensive. Pay it for the year and get 13 months for the price of 12. Compared to what most people pay for cable TV, this is really a no-brainer. Hope this has been helpful.Read full review
I had one of these radios and was very happy with it. The radio I bought had a defect and not useable. If you purchase one make sure it's from someone with a good review. My money was returned.

This model is one of the most convenience model made by Sirius. It can operated independently without any docking station or boombox. Unfortunately it is also over-heat very easily when turn on and play for longer than an hour. Parts in this receiver are usually damaged when it got over heated. Usually last less than an year (Use at least 30 minutes dayly) Solution to make it last longer: Turn the "Contrast" and "Brightness" to the lowest level.
This model apparently came out with transmitting power greater than FCC guideline, because you'll get an offer for a free add-on that reduces it when you register with SIRIUS. But it will reach out a long way as is - maybe 60' to 80' away - enough to cover your house or office. The fact that it's 12 volt and has such a strong transmitter may contribute to overheating. Operating in a cool location with good ventilation minimizes problems.
