Here is another episode of.... "I BOUGHT IT CHEAP.... ON E-BAY!!!" for about six bucks with shipping to be exact, and I still feel ripped off. Life After People, or as I like to call it "America After Americans" (because lets face it, 97% of this program is about America with Paris, Amsterdam and London getting the occasional mention here and there) is a "documentary" that asks the question "If people just disappeared from Earth one day, what would happen?" they don't ask what if people died?, or if they stopped caring?, somehow people would just cease to exist.... well, ignore the strange premise and I will tell you what will happen *SPOILER* some animals will survive and things will eventually fall apart. There you go, I just saved you ninety odd minutes there. Oh sure, the DVD goes into great detail about how things will slowly disintegrate, like in 100 years cars will just be a unrecognizable pile of metal (yet earlier in the show, after five years, they show the cars looking the same) and how in Central Park, trees will sprout up and take over the place (yet in the background, the buildings look unchanged - except they've already shown us how the buildings will fall apart) You see, that are a few problems with this.... um... see, I want to call it a documentary, but the program itself can't decide if it is serious, or maybe a little science fiction (cats "could" evolve into flying cats!) there are problems with the facts (showing things falling apart, yet forgetting to show them in tatters later on when other things are falling apart) The special effects are LAUGHABLE in places, I mean, I know it is a TV show, but GEEZ, some of these effects look so bad they could be in a SyFy channel Saturday night movie. Plus the main voice-over guy, his voice does not fit the program. He sounds like at any second he will burst into "A man.... looking for Vengeance... in a world that abandoned him...." he really does sound like a guy who voices action trailers for "B movie" DVDs. It's weird, I really wanted to like this, but somehow thanks to tacky effects, bad voice overs, cheesy editing (two dogs are playing, but they make the picture blurry and add growls to make it look like they are "fighting") makes even the most interesting of premises (though silly) come across as boring.Read full review
I found this rather boring, but I am a "People Person". It is mostly about the decay time of man-made structures and what wildlife from zoos and such would do if man were not controlling them. I bought this disc at a friend's suggestion. I fell asleep during the program so I was not exactly fascinated with it, and so did my friend! My wife enjoyed the presentation and stayed awake. Don't expect a eye-opener, just a carefully thought out presentation on the subject of Life After People.

I got this for my 5 year old son who loves watching buildings collapse and destruction. It will not disappoint.
