the glass was so clear, and I liked the firedot reticle so much I ordered another leupold scope to replace a ziess scope I had on another rifle. when you look through the scope it is just so clear and bright you can't help but be amazed. I like the reticle with a illuminated dot inside a circle, it draws you'r eye to the target. I wish leupold had made this scope with a true 1power instead of 1.25 so you could shoot with both eyes open. like I said I was so impressed I replaced a brand new scope with another leupold.

I have used Leupold scopes for as long as I can remember. They are super clear, tough and hold their zero. This is a new type. It has the fire dot. Bought this for HOG hunting. Can't wait to try it. I don't know if I ike the push button light adjustment yet. Time will tell. I can only say if you buy Leupold you can't go wrong.

THE GOOD- Came fast, looks good, has good reticule, clear glass and great focus adjustments. 4 times magnification clarity is fantastic. Life time warrantee. Perfect hog hunter. THE BAD-Spendy, not any better than the next model down. The lowest magnification has got to be more than 1.25 because two eyes open shots are not very clear. The less costly model does better at target acquiring both eyes open. Good one eye but that is not what they are advertising here. When it works the firedot is fantastic! THE UGLY- After a few shots the targeting light goes off and does not want to come back on even after seveal attempts at pushing the on button or even after removing the battery cover to reset and check the battery placement. Some times the on button is stuck in and you can not put the targeting light on until battery cover is removed to let air into unit. (FYI the battery cover is also the on button.) In closing- if looking for a CQC sight for competition that also offers some magnification you can easily do better but will have to spend a lot more money on the other hand you will get what you paid for. For everyone else you just may like what this unit has to offer. It will be going back for warrantee repairs for the switch and then on a SBR M4. It gets a C+ as a good scope for a fun midrange distance shooter.Read full review
Typical bright Leupold optics, even with the 20mm objective. The Firedot is the tiniest dot I've ever seen on a scope - probably 1MOA, compared to the typical 4MOA on other brands. They included a bikini cover, but for the price, they should include their flip caps ($100 to buy from Leupold as an accessory).

I am a 76-year old competitive High Power Rile shooter who hasn't had much shooting fun in the past three years shooting service rifle or even match rifle with aperture sights. Just could not see, especially at 300 yards or more. This year NRA and CMP allowed use of 1-4.5x x34mm objective, so I thought, why not? Got this Leupold VXR Patrol scope just before the 2016 season started in Indiana, and it is really a game-changer. Found that I didn't really use the firedot because I think that is for CQB or multigun. The turrets are easy to turn, are well marked, and the reticle is GREAT. Bought a bikini scope cover, and a cantilever scope mount, and I am good to go. Last week while setting my 300 yard zero, without staying locked in position, fired a 186-5x. I know that I had been serious about it, could have fired195 or better.....scope is that good. Found that 2X worked better for me at 200, and 3x and 4x for 300 in lower light. Of course, at offhand 200 yards you see every heartbeat. Shooting is FUN again. 7th Division Vet Read full review
