Before I put these onto my Squire VI, I had tried La Bella's nickel-plated round wounds and their stainless steel flat wounds. Both of those are superb. These strings, the stainless steel round wounds, have characteristics all their own. They are easier to tune than the nickel-plated round wounds, but not as easy as the flat wounds. The nickel-plated strings have a slightly more complex sound. These sound a little sweeter. The low E string retains its brightness longer than it does with the other two sets, but it still becomes dull more quickly than the heavier low E on a long-scale bass -- you still have to coax a good sound out of it. The nickel-plated round wounds have a brilliant silver color. These are more blue-gray.

Got a Bass VI? Then you need these. The gauge and price.. has to be the first selling point. The brightness and crisp top end and tight low end.. second. Will be buying a box of these.
