OFFERED FOR SALE is my FACTORY BUILT L69 Tri-Carb 442. This is the FINEST UNRESTORED and DOCUMENTED L69 available....This package was also available and installed at the dealership, but this is a documented factory car, one of 1,170 built.
On March 14, 1966 Mr. Larry R. received the call from O Daniel-Ranes, Inc. in Evansville, IN that the L69 442 he ordered had arrived!
Larry spec'd out the car to his own liking and what an awesome color combination he picked.....He spent the extra $26.14 and opted for the Two-Tone Magic Mirror Finish in ROYAL MIST BLUE with PROVINCIAL WHITE PAINTED ROOF and a WHITE interior...STRIKING!
In addition to the all important L69, other options Larry selected were: M21 Close-Ratio 4 Speed Transmission, N40 Roto-Matic Power Steering, U35 Electric Clock, Y60 Visor Vanity Mirror/Luggage Compartment Light/Glove Box Lamp, U63 Deluxe Radio, U16 Engine Tachometer, G80 Anti-Spin Rear Axle, A02 Tinted Glass, D55 Sports Console, A39 Deluxe front rectractable/rear Seat Belts, B93 Chrome Door Edge Mouldings, and P26 Whitewall Tires.
From the beginning, Larry never intended to make this car his daily driver. He enjoyed it as his weekend car and spent time at the local drag strip running his Tri-Carb 442. Outfitted with promotional "442" vinyl graphics and accenting stripe (I imagine the dealer had some "participation" in this), the L69 performed quite well at the track and the old photos reveal many trophies won. In the photos you can see pictures where Larry proudly displayed them standing on the hood (yes, he had a towel underneath!).
Somewhere along the way, Larry decided to upgrade the 10-Bolt rear end unit to a 12-Bolt for the added strength, but the original engine and transmission remained. The car stayed with Larry even after illness struck and he was no longer able to drive. Only upon his passing did the L69 leave the family. I went to Evansville and purchased the car and it has remained in my heated/cooled/humidity controlled garage since that time occasionally "making the scene" at the monthly Cars & Coffee, sipping on Sunoco 110, and enjoying the good life. I have enjoyed my many years with her.....Now you have the opportunity to own such a rare and special car.
The original paint is in excellent condition for a car over 46 years old....You can tell it was garaged and not left out in the weather. Yes, there are a few nick touch-ups here and there, but she still looks amazing and with original paint you know what you have. Larry even ordered the car with FACTORY under seal, so you know the bottom was preserved from the factory.
The glass, stainless trim, grill, dresser panel, and chrome are all in amazing condition for an unrestored car....You would spend a small fortune restoring one and trying to locate this much NOS trim. Only the grill emblem has been replaced.
The interior is simply outstanding....The dash pad, bezels, steering wheel, upholstery, seat belts, gauge faces, console...Most everything is as if the car were sitting on the re-sale lot at the dealer in two years later....It's a though it was hardly used. The floor carpet was replaced as was the trunk mat, however I have the original mat and it is included with the sale.
The original engine has been professional rebuilt with receipts that will go to the buyer. It is the original "E" block with a Julian date of January 5th as well as the original "B" code cylinder heads and Tri-Carb unit.
I have the original glass fuel bowl/filter and it will be included with the sale.
Great Options....Great Colors....Great Paperwork/Provenance: The Hallmarks of an Investment Grade Classic that you can drive and enjoy....It beats 0.19% in your Money Market account or 1.75% in a 10-Year Treasury.
The L69 is being offered AS-IS and Buyer shall be responsible for transportation. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.
If you have any questions you may email via Ebay or call 336-202-8762.

I have received a LOT of inquiries and several people of asked about the engine rebuild details.

Rods were resized and assembly was externally balanced (I have the balancing car....Rod Rotation: 634, Rod Bearing: 54, Oil Allowance: 8, Piston & Pin: 821, Rings: 58, Rod Reciprocating: 271 with Total Bobweight: 2534). Melling hydraulic camshaft closely matched to stock specifications with .921 Dia lifters (I have the cam card). Cloyes double roller timing set. Melling oil pump. New valve springs and retainers, hardened seats/guides, 3 angle valve machining, resurface flywheel and convert to external balance. Rod/Mains/Cap bearings are Clevite 77.
The car drives great and does NOT run hot. The last time I drove the car was on Saturday, September 1st and it was in the 90s (I keep a driving log book). I drove 45 miles round trip to High Point, NC at noon and it was quite humid....The engine remained cool and performed great.
