I bought the book because I was teaching a class and wanted to get some ideas of what kids during that time period did to entertain themselves. I was teaching K-2nd graders. Most of the things were a little advanced for them to do. Some info would have been great to have....like when making the yarn dolls, not to precut any of the yarn for the kids. I did this, thinking it would save time. But, it gets all tangled up and knotted. It says it's really easy, and it was not easy when teaching 8 girls how to do it at once. It's a good book. I really enjoyed it. I bought the book with the idea of teaching 8 girls how to do some crafts from it. Most were too advanced for them, given the time allotted for me to teach it to them. That's why I went for the yarn doll. But the book is neat, and I think if I was showing 1 child how to do something it'd be perfect! Joy WilliamsRead full review
My daughter loves the American girl pastimes collections and she was so excited when I found them on ebay. She checked them out of the library first and loved them. She was disheartened when we discovered they were out of print and not available for purchase. Kirsten is one of her favorites. It's great because she is learning about history while making a unique craft.
I made a mistake the lady did say the book had two creases in the book and I didn't see it when I won it. Sorry I wish I could retract what I said in the feedback. Marjorie Valentine
