Kermit as a young frog wonders, along with his best friends, Goggles and Croaker, what lies beyond the swamp. When Goggles the toad gets captured by a pet store owner, it's up to Kermit and Croaker to rescue him. Of course they are successful, but it's all about the adventures and new friends they find along the way that makes up this muppet story. This is the latest Muppet movie produced by the Henson family, produced in 2002. All the Muppets movies are puppets that interact with people and of course they talk, which is what gets Kermit into trouble. While this might not be as good as "Muppets from Space," or "Muppet Christmas Carol" (my personal favorite), it isn't much of a step down. This movie is about being loyal to friends and doing what is right. It also has some special features, including "Behind the scenes" feature with Kermit, On the set with Kermit, and an entertaining blooper reel." If you have ever enjoyed any other Muppet movie, you will enjoy this one also. It is a very nice family film.Read full review
It's been a while since Kermit was home, so he gets on his scooter and heads back to the swamp. Driving down the road to the swamp, Kermit reminisces about the first time he saw that road. He was only a small frog when he and his friends ventured out onto it for the first time – only for two of them to get picked up by a driver in a red truck. Kermit and his other friend were forced to set out after the truck to try and rescue their friends from the terrors of the outside world. Using the hook of the famous Muppet character in his early years, this film delivers a rendition of the "Toy Story" mentality where Kermit lands out into the unfamiliar world to rescue his friends. The film's plot is simple, but lacks any real emotion or intelligence in the way that Toy Story did. It has a few laughs along the way for adults but mainly this will appeal to younger children who will be amused by the puppets and engaged by the bad guy of Dr. Krassman. I doubt very much though that such basic antics will appeal to older viewers – certainly not to adult viewers who have fond memories of the wit and energy of the Muppet Show. I'm reluctant to rate this movie because I'm giving it a mere 3/5 just because it's Kermit's Swamp Years. IF YOU LIKE MY REVIEWS, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO LET ME KNOW BY VOTING. I have forever been a Muppet's fan;so, how can one go wrong with Jim Henson's magic. My 8 yr old daughter thought the clever humor was entertaining, and I absolutely loved revisiting the genre. The story begins with a young Kermit, before he's discovered, or leaves the swamp. He follows two of his friends, one bully, one whimpy anphibian, who had been taken to a pet shop for sale. Along the way he meets other animals and even crosses the path of a young Jim Henson. Kermit and friends soon find themselves about to be disected in a high sch Biology class. The frogs escape and after singing and classic Muppet jokes head back to the pond. Kermit learns he liked the wide world beyond his swamp. Packing his banjo he strikes off to make his way. After the show there are funny ,funny out takes and bloopers. I can't get enough of the clean, clever humor. That's so hard to come by now a days. Erin from Springboro, ohioRead full review
Kermit the Frog has been dear to our hearts since the early days of Sesame Street. Although we no longer have children at home, both my husband and I still love to watch anything Sesame Street because we know that we will be entertained in a comfortable way without worrying what we will be seeing. Now we have twin granddaughters (not quite two years old), and when they come to our house for an overnighter, we can pull out this DVD and watch to our heart's content. They already recognize Kermit and love him almost as much as we do. Jim Henson's ideas of these Muppet characters are winners every time!!
Even when I was little I loved frogs and the Muppets. Kermit is a classic .Thank You
