I received the grinder and tried it. It ground very slowly, if at all. I looked at the components to see what the problem might be and found that the auger that moves the meat to the grinding knives was bent causing the grinder to move up and down. Upon eMailing the company, I found that they know absolutely nothing about the product. They advised me to contact the manufacturer. But guess what? It is made made by a German company whose web site is German only, no English options. My guess is the German company has it made in China. Certainly it did not exhibit typical German craftsmanship.

I am very disappointed. This item is aluminum and that was not disclosed in the description. Being made of aluminum explains why it is not dishwasher safe. I should have spent a little bit more for stainless steel. I used it once and it is very difficult to get the meat out of the cylinder and there is no way to sterilize it since you cannot put it in the dishwasher or even in boiling water..

A bit expensive, you can buy an entire grinder at this price, but it's well made and 100% better than the plastic thing that Kitchenaid sells. I'm concentrating my kitchen tools around the Kitchenaid to not have so many machines to deal with.
