I bought this serger based on all I've read. On reviews. I haven't had the chance to use it much but the self threading comes with the juki 754d pearl which is a more expensive machine. The dials on the pearl are all located on right of machine. Some on this are on left and the cover has to be opened. That being said I like the feel of this machine and it isn't as noisy as my singer profinish. It is compact and it opens up so that you can pass the looper threader from side to side to thread the lower looper I like the ease of using the rolled hem on this machine. I don't have to remove anything but the left needle. It doesn't feel cheep and is metal. As with all sergers it takes a bit of practice and patience. I got a brother 1034 that supposedly has a high rating and returned it. It felt cheap. If I had to use the instruction manual by itself without you tube directions I would not be able to follow it. Juki needs to simplify and update this and have clearer pictures and not mix all languages. It makes it hard to follow Hilda California, USARead full review

This is my first serger ever. I'm quite experienced sewing with a sewing machine but had never used a serger before this one. When I first took it out of the package I was surprised at how much smaller it was compared to what I had expected, and at the same time how much heavier than I thought (owing, I assume, to all the inside parts being metal - something that pleased me big time!). Overall so far I've found it to be a very sturdy and reliable machine and I like that it has a good variety of features! There are two things I'm not crazy about: one is that I'm finding the lower looper very awkward to thread, though I've gotten better at it with practice - but it still takes me much longer than it should, because everything in that machine is so compact and close together, that my fingers have a hard time maneuvring among the different parts where the thread is supposed to pass from. That, and the manual could have been clearer and more detailed. It's not bad at all and covers all the basics, but I feel it leaves a lot of extra details to be figured out, when it could have been more helpful, especially to a beginner. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who has no prior experience with sergers due to the complexities I just mentioned, or to someone who wants a serger that is very easy to thread etc. Overall though, it's a good, strong, reliable machine that I'm sure it's going to serve me for years, so if you have some serger experience and what you are after is a strong, sturdy, reliable machine to last you for years, then you would be very pleased with this one!Read full review
This serger is fast! I have an garment design and alterations business and use sewing machines and sergers every day. I use Juki sewing machines as well and have loved using Juki products for many years. They are very reliable, durable, fast, and long lasting. One advantage this serger has over others I've used is the color coded threading system. Each thread is fed through it's own color coded route. I like that the covers move out of the way so I can get my fingers inside to thread it. It doesn't seem easy to thread at first, but once you understand how to thread it you can do it in just a few minutes. If you are not experienced with sergers, this serger might be to fast for you.

Bought this as a present for my mum. She hasn't stopped playing with it since it arrived. She watched all the YouTube tutorials so set up and use was easy for her. Every day I come home from work she has a new swatch of material to show me what she's done. Thank you for an excellent sales experience.

I have had three differnet sergers, so far, and this is my favorite. It does a nice rolled hem that I used to make a bunch of "Green" napkins. And the rolled hem doean't require a foot or plate change. I haven't used it too much yet, but look forward to trying out soem of the features my other machines did not have such as the flatlock seam. So far I have been very pleased with my purchase.
