As a beginning watercolorist I have been looking for books to help me. I ran across the name John Pike and read some information about his work. The book is really interesting and I love the snow scenes that he paints. As for helping me with my watercolor - I have only been working with watercolor for two months - I might not suggest this book. However, I do find the compositon of his work interesting and helpful in my designs, and enjoy seeing the work of this very talented man.
There are lessons and tips here for the amateur or the professional. I lost my original copy and was compelled to get a replacement.

This book is not as visually exciting as some of the newer watercolorists' books I've purchased. But, John Pike's work is phenomenal and worth looking at and reading about. The book just seems a little "dated", but his work is timeless.
