Jerry Herman "HELLO LYNDON" Ed Ames '64 Dem. Convention

This is a rare promotional 45 rpm record, "HELLO LYNDON", which was distributed during the 1964 Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Sung by ED AMES and the "Hello, Dolly!" male chorus, the recording was a take-off on the title song of JERRY HERMAN's musical comedy hit "HELLO, DOLLY!" which was playing on Broadway at the St. James Theatre in New York City. (The production opened January 16th, 1964 at the St. James Theatre and ran for 2844 performances.) ..... President Lyndon Johnson chose the theme song for the convention and CAROL CHANNING, the star of "Hello, Dolly!" performed the re-written version at the convention which was held at the Atlantic City Convention Center from August 24th - 27th, 1964 ..... Both songs have a playing time of 2:00 (minutes). The record sleeve measures 7" X 7" inches and includes artwork specifically designed for the convention ..... CONDITION: The recording appears to be unplayed, however the sleeve does show light moisture stains along the bottom edge and corner. Despite the staining to the sleeve, this rare recording will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian .....
