This handmade blade is hand forged, polished, and sharpened by our experienced smith during the whole proess in the most traditional Japanese craftmanship way.

Bo-hi is added to each side of the blade to ligthen the blade and balance the sword as a whole to make better operation.( If you don’t want the bo-hi, we can also do it for you, just contact us through ebay message)

 

Three important forging processes are applied on the blade making craft which marks it a functional, top quality, super blade:

 

1. AISI 1095 CLAY TEMPERED LEFT WITH A BEAUTIFULLY REAL HAMON ON THE BALDE

 

This blade was made of 1095 high carbon steel, and hand fully polished which makes the surface of the blade much bright like a mirror. After the below process, the blade has been throughlyclay tempered , first the back of blade is covered with a special clay, then the whole blade has been tempered and later quick cooled during quenching, this result in a harder edge. In this way, a beautiful real hamon on the blade comes into being as a result of the differential cooling of the blade between quenching and tempering. The whole blade is constructed with the hamon going all through the Boshi. The blade can be made very sharp or nonsharp according to the customers' requirement.

 

2. POLISHED BY MULTIPLE GRADE ABRASIVE STONES

 

At last, the surface of the blade is polished with multuple grade abrasive stones to increase the hardness of the blade for better function and left with a white visible abrasive area on the surface of the blade.

 

Fitting:

 

The fittings on this sword are made of high quality copper, and they are full hand-made carved and assembled by our experienced smith which greatly increase the collection value of the sword.

 

Sword Function:
This Tanto is made of high quality 1095 carbon steel with magnificent craftsmanship of clay tempering, which cast hardness of the blade in a large degree and then polished with abrasive stone, and finally come out with the top quality sword with high craft value. This is a functional sword which can be used for the real battle , and also an absolutely necessary as one of the collections or display for its special clay tempering and exquisite craftsmanship of forging processThe sword can be as hard as to cut the meat with bones, paint bucket and bamboo; can be as sharp as tocut slice paper . It can be used for the real battle for its hardness, sharpness and flexibility and also an absolutely necessary as one of the collections or show it as a pride for its distinct hamon on the blade.
