Another in the Arcadia series, The 1939-40 NYWF is a great book for all world's fair enthusiasts. The pages are full of b&w photos, mostly candid shots, showing pavilions, crowds, and even aerial views. The commentary is bright and full of interesting facts. Going through the book is as close as one can get today to visiting the fair! My only suggestion to the author is to publish a second volume quickly and include more interior views. I will be the first in line to buy it!!
As a collector of the 1939 New York World’s Fair I bought Bill Cotter’s book on the New York 1939 – 1940 Fair and I was pleased to see the Fair in a whole new and different perspective. Mr Cotter’s book has so many new sights and views of the fair; it had to take a great deal of time to gather all of these photos together. Each photo has a write-up and some have extra interesting tidbits included. The book is split into the different zones and areas of the fair. The final chapter is on the 1940 season and the different problems the Fair had due to World War II starting and countries getting pulled into the war.
