This is a great CD! I bought it because (1) I absolutely love their "Ancora" CD, and have played it a lot and (2) My husband and I attended their concert this summer, which was incredible! Their magnificent voices, their beautiful choice of musical numbers, the way they "choreograph" their arrangements, their use of harmony, the orchestral background, and their mixture of languages throughout the album all make for a wonderful listening experience. My very favorite song on this Il Divo CD is "Passera". I enjoyed hearing (& viewing it) during their performance so much that I wanted to have it. There is not a bad number in the album. There is a repeat of one song that is on "Ancora" ("Unchained Melody"). But they do it so very beautifully! I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who appreciates good music. As for me, I can hardly wait until they come out with a new album.Read full review
These boys are not yet getting the attention they deserve. I do not hear them on the radio, and there isn't any 'street' talk I hear about them. I hope their current tour will give them a much needed boost here in America. Their recent European tour was a sold-out smash success. I found their Ancora album and DVD and fell in love with their amazing sound. Simon Cowell's 'wish list' for four already professional tenors to form a band to sing both pop and classical music is exactly what I didn't know was missing from my music choices. The diversity of one Italian, one Frenchman, one American and one Swiss, all of whom have talent, looks, charm AND charisma is a HUGE step up from some of the current mindless and talentless offerings on the current charts. The concept alone is exciting, and these delicious young men deliver the goods with such obvious joy, and professional integrity, just listening to their clean, fresh singing is like an uplifting spiritual experience.Read full review
In an era of hip-hop, finally something wonderful comes along for adults who grew up with Andy Williams, The Carpenters, Barbara Streisand, and Shirley Bassey. A supreme album of lovely songs, some known, others new, beautifully vocalized by a quartet called Il Divo. This group opened for Streisand during her recent tour; I would love to see footage of that! It doesn't matter that most of the songs are in foreign languages. The intent, the passion, the artistry, the orchestrations all meld together to create perfection. Enjoy.
Because of my love of operatic voices, a friend recommended listening to Il Divo. I purchased this CD and will never regret it. This group is amazing! Their harmony is wonderful, and their voices are absolutely beautiful. Listening to their operatic voices sing pop songs has made me enjoy these songs more. I never grow tired of playing all 13 tracks over and over again. I am very pleased with this purchase.
I was flipping channels one evening and saw these marvelous tenors on PBS.I found I could not change the channel. I looked on ebay to see if they were up for auction. I purchased two cd's (sent one to my brother). When I played the cd, their voices were so beautiful, I cried through the whole cd. If you want to listen to beautiful, inspiring, and soul-elevating music, I highly recommend this cd. ll Divo has become our favorite cd to listen to.
