For your consideration, a Waterman #18 eyedropper. The pen has a number 8 nib, which is exactly the same size nib found on the Waterman 58. It is a huge pen. I photograped it next to a Waterman 52 to show how this nib dwarfs the #2 nib. It is a truly impressive size.
What makes this pen special is the cursive italic nib. I can't recall ever writing with a smoother nib. It is just buttery smooth and delicious. The cursive italic creates line variation similar to that of a flexible nib, but without having to apply pressure. If you are a stub nib fan, you will love this nib. The flow is nice and wet as well. (I tend to prefer a dry nib, but have refrained from slowing the flow. From time to time it will allow a blob of ink to form if too much pressure is applied to the nib so the successful bidder might want to adjust the flow.)
The chasing is a tad worn, but still evident. The imprint on teh barrel is still legible in its entirety and says "Waterman's Ideal Fountain Pen
Pat'd. May 23, 1899 & Aug. 4, 1903 U.S.A."
There are some slight scratches from desk wear. I can find what might be a single bite mark on teh barrel, but other than that, it is free from defects. The cap has no cracks. the nib, feed and section are free of cracks or flaws.
This is an eyedropper filler meaning that you do not have to replace the sac. It is ready to write!
This is a beautiful piece. It might be years before you see this type of pen again, so take the chance to add this rare gem to your collection while you can. Snipers will throw in bids at the last second, so put in a reasonable price to assure that you win this....you probably wont get a chance to buy one of these again.
I will refund if I misrepresented anything at all about the pen. This is a very nice pen and I doubt anyone will be disatisfied. Still, please review the photos before you buy.
