Works well and temp control is well calibrated. Instructions don't show output wattage max. Read somewhere it might be about 100 watts. Don't plug in an electric heater!

Left my thermostat at 50 degrees for 2 weeks over Christmas. Set Winter Watchman at 45 degrees with light plugged in at window so neighbor could see if furnace wasn't working. Two days after I left received a call from neighbor that light was on. Had friend go over to check. House was 50 degrees inside with furnace working. He turned dial to get light off. That was 35 degrees. He left. Next day I received another call that light was on. Friend went over and unplugged as it is extremely unreliable. Would not recommend. So now I am away at the mercy of my friend to stop by and check. Problem is that he will be away 5 days at Christmas. Not happy right now.

Bought and shipped to son for use in our Northern home that he watches for winter. He installed; light came on a few days later. He went and checked- no problem. Reset and same thing happened a week later. Again- no problem. He lives 30 minutes away, so had him unplug and we will just hope the heat stays on! (Next door neighbor can see if light came on and would call us) Light never did flash. Bought because of the trusted name "Honeywell"

So far so good. Great idea, and a very economical and efficient way to monitor temperature in any setting. My neighbor goes to Florida every Winter while I'm stuck here in Michigan.... So I no longer have to go inside the house every single day to see if the heat's on. It does indeed have "120 WATTS MAX 120 VAC" written on the back of the device, but packaging and on-line sales listings could stress that using an Electrical Heater would seriously overload this device - with a potential for premature failure (or worse).

This works OK. It's dial is no where near accurate, and I've tested two others with the same results. It is however an inexpensive way to save valuable property. My neighbors all have these at their lake properties, and it gives me a signal when there is a heat failure during the winter months. You just can't rely on the actual degree setting to be very close.
