Item specifics

Condition: Used
Seller Notes: Everything on this scooter works like new. It has new tires, new battery, recent oil change, new spark plug and air cleaner. All parts are original Honda. The carburetor has been replaced with an aftermarket carb with bigger jets, but the original carb is included in the auction. The scooter has the original Honda leg shield installed, but comes with an extra aftermarket legshield. I have owned this scooter since April 2000 and since that time it has always been garage kept”. It has the original Honda mirrors installed. The glass mirrors are broken, but new glass can be put in by a glass cutting company (the nearest glass cutter is 60 miles away from me). The scooter does come with a set of aftermarket universal fit scooter mirrors.
Warranty: No Country of Manufacture: Japan
I am being forced to re-list this item because of non-payment of a winning bidder. Paypal payment in full is the only payment option for this auction.

Current economic conditions are forcing me to liquidate my antique scooter collection. This auction is for a 1981 Honda C70 Passport Scooter. She has 4,042 original miles. Her name is Red Ryder and she is all original. I have owned this scooter since 2000 and she has been garage kept since I have owned her.  I suspect that she has always been garage kept, but I have no way of knowing for sure. There are small amounts of surface rust (which could be easily covered with touch up paint), but the motor and running gear all look very good. All parts are original and the ignition key operates the switch, fork lock and helmet holder. The original, Honda leg shield has some minor cracks, but the scooter comes with a brand new aftermarket leg shield (a $70 value) The aftermarket leg shield (pictured in photo 12) is included. The Keihn (original Honda) Carburetor has been replaced with a larger jetted carburetor, but the complete original carb is included in this auction THERE ARE OTHERWISE NO TAIWANESE or CHINESE PARTS ON THIS SCOOTER. I am the third Georgia owner of this scooter which was bought new in 1981 from Al Rodi Honda in Atlanta, GA. THIS SCOOTER COMES WITH A GEORGIA TITLE!!!! NO TOUCH UP PAINT has been used on this scooter as it has won "best of show" at antique motorcycle shows and can easily be put back to SHOW CONDITION!

Red Ryder runs and idles perfectly and was recently tuned. She has new tires and battery.  The carburetor was replaced, a new air filter installed, throttle and choke cables lubed and adjusted, points and condenser were checked and adjusted, but not replaced, as they are original and in perfect operating condition. The spark plug was changed from a NGK C7HSA to a NGK C6HSA. This was done because in a South Georgia climate, the C6HSA gives better performance and better gas mileage. The auction includes both spark plugs. There is the slightest "valve rattle" when the scooter has been run for long periods in very warm temps. The valves clearances were checked and ARE within Honda's specifications. The valves were NOT adjusted simply because no harm comes from loose valves. Conversely, valves adjust too closely can cause major problems. The chain was lubed with chain wax and adjusted to accommodate a 250 pound passenger and 20 lbs of cargo. (you'll thank me for this when your ride double). The only oil that has been used in this scooter is Honda GN4 which is designed specifically for Honda's small four stroke engines with wet clutches. All lights, horn and electric start function properly. Additionally, the kick starter usually brings the machine to life with a single kick that can be performed by a six year old child. THE SCOOTER DOES NEED TO BE RIDDEN FREQUENTLY or an inexpensive trickle charger installed (about $20, here), as Honda's 6 volt charging system does not properly maintain the battery at idle speeds or with infrequent use.

This scooter has NEVER been run with ethanol gas and gets approximately 110 MPG. She has a three speed, auto clutch transmission and runs approximately 45 MPH, with an old, fat, nearly bald man and a $100 bag of groceries in her near-perfect front basket. She idles well and the throttle snaps back when released (a known problem with Honda small motorcycles). Since the scooter is 32 years old, two in-line fuel filters (approximately $3 each) have been installed between the gas tank and the fuel petcock. These filters should be inspected and/or replaced on one-year intervals. This bike even has the original tool kit in mint condition under the left panel. The original owners manual was also there, but has been been destroyed by water damage.

I will be happy to answer any and all questions. The Honda 6 volt C70 passports were only made in 1980 and 1891, and are somewhat RARE in the United States. If you don't understand that this is an antique, collectible, near show-quality scooter.....this may not be the scooter for you, as it would break my heart to send "Lil Red" to an undeserved life of misuse!
