This heated cat bed earned The Best rating from the Hammacher Schlemmer Institute after a cat behaviorist concluded that pets preferred it to all other models. Over a three-month period the cat behaviorist observed that the felines returned repeatedly to The Best model because of its cozy, semi-enclosed design and superior heater. Lesser models were barely warm to the touch and did not provide any privacy. The Best model's dual internal thermostats keep the bed temperature 12º F to 15º F above the ambient temperature and the bed is lined with 1" of soft foam and has a plush fleece surface. The Best model's heating element removes easily from a zippered pocket and the rest of the unit is machine washable, unlike lesser models that had to be washed by hand. Plugs into AC.
