This is a good serviceable value priced item. I hope it will last more than the 2-3 years of the previous Hayward pumps. It is not the quality of a Martin pump but it is less than 1/2 of the price. The last Hayward developed a nonrepairable air leak between the strainer basket cover and the pump body when the plastic body warped. Hopefully the new cover design will last longer.

Extremely difficult to prime...Took over an hour to get the pump to prime. Ultimately I had to replace the pump lid with an older one from the Hayward Super Pump that I replaced due to excessive motor noise (dry bearings). Old pump still primed properly when I replaced it.

My 9 yr old pump motor was going south fast; screeching horribly. Found this same model so it could be a direct plug in to my existing piping. The pump itself only took about 30 minutes to install and works perfectly and so much quieter! Priced it out from a couple local pool shops at $500, this one for $340 was a great deal. I should be good to go for another 9 years. Packaging and shipping were typical, i.e. good. Don't forget to put some non-petroleum pool pump sealant on the gaskets before closing it up.

Good quality and the best price I found locally or on line.

This looks exactly like my older model. It is far quieter - yet pumps the same volume as the old 1hp model did. Standard threading to mate with the existing pvc lines was a big help - better components and even drain plugs look to be better quality.
