From the Samson family of products always a solid choice depending on what purpose it is used for . In my case 50 watts is plenty . With the addition of an external preamp such as the Radial JDV this little amp is transformed into a heavy hitting bass sound solution for studio or practice . Just not a live band type of setup . But tone chasers aren't usually set on any one amp unless it's a great value overall which this one surely is .

I am new to playing bass and so I don't always know what to "listen for" when it comes to amps. AT this point, I just want enough clean volume to where I can rock out at home. I have a Hartke A25 amp that gets pretty loud for it's size. So, I was thinking that this HD50, with twice as many amps and a larger speaker, would have roughly twice as much volume. It does not. It's not nearly as loud as I thought it would be. But it still has plenty of volume for playing at home or in a small venue. And it sounds fuller than the smaller amp. It provides a good thump when I play my new Epiphone Allen Woody bass. I'm happy with it.
