This piece of Osage Orange is all heartwood! It was split from a much larger piece of wood. This is incredibly strong, rot resistant wood and the heartwood is the strong and most beautiful part of it. This piece was cut about 8 months ago, so it is fairly dry. This is a very solid, high quality stick and
would look beautiful when finished up. Both ends have
been sealed with polyurethane. Osage Orange is the strongest, most dense hardwood in North America and is highly rot resistant. Osage Orange is an invasive species in Illinois, so your purchase is benefiting the local environment of west-central Illinois by making much needed space and sunlight available for native species to thrive. Below are the specifics of this item. Diameter (top): 1 3/8" x 2 1/2" Diameter (bottom): 1" x 2 1/4" Weight: 3.3 pounds Our wood products are always sustainably harvested from woodlands we own in Illinois. We take great pride in what we do and we care for our land. Removal of invasive species benefits the environment from limiting their spread and opening up land for native species to grow. Native species are typically cut as part of thinning operations to improve the quality of our woodlots. You may combine orders to save on shipping charges.
