The last photo of Lenin and Kapsukas is one of Bogdanas' more famous works and was done for the 400 anniversary of Vilnius University.
Back in his studio, Bogdanas, is asked one simple question: how many Lenins have you made? He waves his arms and chuckles, “many, many” says the thinly bearded man. He lived comfortably during communism solely because he played the political game. After studying at the Imperial Russian Art Academy in Leningrad, he served as the president of the Sculpture Council for 10 years, and spent eight years in the communist parliament. At age 60 he was awarded the highest honor, a Lenin Medal.
“You need to live under the Russian occupation to understand what it’s like. My art colleagues from other nations asked me why I did these works. If you didn’t agree to do it, they would either kill you or send you to Siberia. Naturally the entire culture was declared as a tool for propaganda. If you wanted to do something for yourself, art for yourself, you had to also give a tribute to the ideology. People should be humanistic and forgive those who sometimes created works that were against their real values.”
Or in the words of the fiery Vysniauskas, “Why they hell would anyone make those works on their own? We were ordered.”

Quote [ Edit ]
Last year I LATGA-A has sent a letter and agree that my work who got into Grutas Park, would be liable - "Republic" said K. Bogdan. -, As he has for the state I paid for them. For every monument got several thousand rubles. The Viliumo Malinausko nothing did not and does not, - said K. Bogdan. - Especially since found out that there appear in my work, I went to the same, they have chosen a place with V. MALINAUSKAS that occasion the cup raised our. Previously, only the road noise due to the dismantling of monuments, lice, and other blow, and the Ministry of Culture only to connive at. Not my affair that V. Malinauskas take money from the visitors. For me, as an artist, most importantly, that he arranged and mine and work colleagues, beautifully built them. By the way, in the park are all artistically best Soviet works. K. Bogdan had never neišsižadėsiantis his "ideological" creative because I did go through quite a difficult era According to him, this is what graced the recent past Lithuanian cities, must see, and the current youth who do not know anything about the Soviet era.
