This is actually 2nd Steamvac Dual V and I'm glad this machine works excellent! It deep cleans the carpet very well and it dries quickly after a few minutes of back and forth strokes. The first Dual V we had 10 years ago I found it sitting outside of the dumpster when we first moved to our apartment. It needed a new cord and attachments. It wasn't doing very well because the solution tank was leaking so it needed a new one but probably did the same thing. So I got rid of it after getting a bottom line Steamvac without the spinscrub. And then after a year I decided to give Hoover a break and buy a new Bissell Premier 2x. It worked well for the first time but after a while it wasn't drying and cleaning the carpet that well. The bottom was covered with my late doberman's hair. So after 3 years of owning it, I threw it out since it smelled bad and not working well too. So after almost 2 years without a deep cleaner and after a year ago by moving to a bigger house. I decided to try Hoover deep cleaners again. I try to look for the Steamvac widepath with the headlights but they're hard to come and wasn't sure about the newer Hoover deep cleaners. I was lucky to find the new in box Dual Vs. I tried it out in my bedroom first and I was impressed the way it cleaned the carpets and drying it too. No leaks from the tanks. So glad I got these before they ran out.Read full review

I bought this unit and used it on my extremely dirty berber white carpet. It did a so-so job of cleaning them. I then presoaked and scrubbed the berber carpet with stain remover first and then ran the carpet cleaner over the carpet. The results were much better. Hence, to clean my berber carpet with this unit, I need to pre-treat the carpet first with stain remover, scrub it in, wait, and then use this unit over the carpet after that. That process gives me a decent clean. No other process seemed to do it. Running the machine very slowly helped, but not as much as the pre-treatment. I later called Hoover and they said they DO NOT recommend the power scrub units for berber type carpets...I wish I knew that earlier or they had mentioned that clearly in more of their product documentation. I also used the unit on my car upholstery (using the same pre-treatment method as mentioned above) and it worked Ok (kind of nice to have actually). Anyway, my berber white carpet looks better now but still needs another job and more pre-treatments over certain areas (that I may have missed) to look better. I will need to do that at a later time. I've only had this unit for about a month so that's all I can say at this point. Ideally, to do my carpet I would need a more powerful up and back type scrubber, a way to pretreat it with powerful stain remover and scrub it in (using the machine and not do it manually), and then run the normal cleaning process to pick up the pre-treatment chemicals and rinse it out. I'm not sure if this unit exists.Read full review

I've had several Hoover machines for hard surface cleaning. Mainly due to the fact that Hoover is the only company that makes them. Unfortunately they have all failed in different ways. Vacuum stops, scrubbing motor fails, and the fresh water tanks leak. However when they do work they are very helpful in keeping your floors clean. Much better then a mop that leaves behind dirt. These extract that dirt, and leave your floors clean, and almost dry. Controls are usually user friendly with a push of a button, or a slide with your foot. This particular machine has its scrubbing and vacuuming modes way down on the bottom near the floor. Every time you need to stop scrubbing and turn to extraction only you have to bend way down. If you've ever used a similar machine you'll know that after you scrub and dispense solution you need to turn the brush off and extract only. For that reason of constant bending and a poor quality hard surface suction attachment I rate this machine a negative 1. I opened the box looked it over and repackaged for return. Now I'm back to using my Hoover floormate which extracts great, but as with all Hoover floormates has a terrible scrubbing system. I'm sure it wont last long as none of my ten prior machines have. You might say why I keep buying them? I have a few pets, and like to keep my floors clean without mopping. Also even though the quality isn't that great as far as longevity I buy them on sale and usually get a years worth of easier cleaning for under $100 per machine per year. Seller of this machine was great and took it back with no charge to me.Read full review

For those of you that have pets, this is the ultimate clean machine. Ive spent well over $300 for a fancy Bissel ProHeat system only to have it break down on me by its 3rd month of use. I thought the first Bissel I had purchased was a lemon and had taken it back within the first month after it stopped suctioning the water it dispensed. Needless to say the second one did the same thing and after researching online, I found I had to manually " prime " the suction pump. The flimsy plastic accessory holder broke next, then the belt. The brushes on this machine freyed my carpet fibers leaving little hairball like clumps on the floor and it does very poor at cleaning berber carpets and rugs. The machine does not sit low enough to suction the water back out, leaving your carpets wet, soapy, and still dirty. Also, the "correct" cleaning of this machine, which must be done in order not to void the warrenty after every use took more time than it did to actually clean the carpets. And dont think about taking it to a vacuum repair. They will not even look at the pro heat 2 series unless they are certified in Bissel Repair. So, I recently purchased this Hoover and was amazed at not only the amount of water it picked back up out of the floors, but how well the rotating brushes scrubbed the carpets. The hand held rotating brushs works wonders as well on small spots. I did give this machine 4 stars out of 5 because the attachment hose is not stored well on the back of the machine. The end of the hose hangs loose causing the electic cord to get caught up in it while your trying to wind, unwind for storage or use. The simple solution to this is just to have it stored elsewhere since it doesnt get used as frequently. Also, the accessory hose attaches at the base of the front suction area with its electric cord off to the side. Its somewhat difficult to attach being so close to floor level in my opinion. All in all, Im extremely pleased with this machine and the overall performance.Read full review
I am So happy I bought this! It cleans our carpets superbly better than the several Rug Doctor cleaners we have rented and used in the past. There's less water left to dry after cleaning (took a few hours compared to several), we don't have to fill/empty the water tanks as much as we usually had to do with other cleaners in the past, and a huge plus is that we noticed the cleaning solution goes a super long way. There's no more of using a whole entire bottle of solution bc this machine does not "waist" or over saturate our carpets with the solution/water mix. Absolutely the best decision my husband and I have made on an upright carpet cleaner! It is also extremely easy to menuver around the home and takes up the same amount of space as an upright vacuum cleaner when storing. Thank you Hoover for creating a superb carpet cleaning machine that is affordable to boot. My husband and I have absolutely no regrets!Read full review
