Gorgeous CIVIL WAR Era 1840's-60's SILK and COTTON SHAWL Ornate GREAT CONDITION!

I am a long-time vintage clothing dealer and teach costume history at a university. I admit to not, however, being an expert on vintage lace. I therefore took this shawl to the Wisconsin State Historical Society so that the textile curator could give me some information as to its origin. In her opinion, it is machine made, a silk and cotton mix (which confirmed my initial impressions) but due to the ornateness of the pattern and other indicators, she dates it from the Romantic Era--as early as the 1840's to the 1860, saying I could always safely say "Civil War Era" in my listing. So I have! this enormous shawl would have draped beautifully over the back of a crinoline dress.

The shawl is a pale warm ivory and when folded resembles a pale straw color and it measures 112"  with a 49" inch center drop. It has a center medallion (approc 15" long) and is edged with 3" patterned bands with scalloped edges. It is very sturdy and shows no signs of delicacy. It has three small holes/breaks--about the size of an eraser head, a 1.5" spot that has been hand-basted and has light staining (I have left in its original state--it can be very easily repaired to a much more professional look) and another small area orangey spotting (see final 4 photos). This would be wonderful for a collector or a re-enactor for special occasion use.
