Robin Williams, now deceased, was a brilliant actor, bringing out the best in the supporting cast. It's the sub-plots that are fascinating. "You're not crazy, you're just mean." showed a real insight into military life and how you must toe the line. The movie was more about how misunderstood the war was than about fighting. More about the culture, Military and Vietnamese. The Vietnamese viewed Americans as conquerors, not liberators, and, if I were in their shoes, I would react the same. As a Vietnam combat vet, I saw this first hand. Good Morning Vietnam portrayed the Vietnamese in a completely different light, likeable and not Third World pajama-clad savages. Having spent my tour in the boonies, I never envisioned their culture being so sophisticated. Impossible to compare to any other movie as this is One of a Kind.Read full review

Great Robin Williams comedy movie set during the Vietnam War. Good family movie! He kind of upsets his chain-of-command by not broadcasting in a manner approved by his chain-of-command. Instead he uses his own style to great effect! He also experiences betrayal, but overcomes it.
