Gibson Bill Monroe Signature Mandolin, Steve Carlson signed Limited Edition Replica of Bill Monroe's 1923 F-5 built by Gibson in Bozeman Montana in 1993. This was made in the 6th year of Gibson production in the Bozeman, Montana plant. These Monroes were slowly made over a 2 to 2 1/2 year period and are typical of how clean and precise the craftsmanship was when Gibsons were made in there. The mandolin is beautifully constructed and in barely unused condition. The back, sides and neck are refracting, bookmatched curly maple while the top is of admirably close-grained carved spruce in the Cremona brown sunburst hue. This one has Silver Plated hardware and Lacquer finish. The body has the classic ivoroid bindings - three-ply showing on the sides and one on the top and back. The ivoroid bound extended fretboard is inlaid with 6 dots in 5 positions; the headstock is inlaid “The Gibson” with an abalone flowerpot and under that is a white pearl truss rod cover bearing Mr. Monroe’s facsimile signature. Tuners are high quality engraved plate with pearl buttons; the truss rod cover is pearl and etched “Bill Monroe” in script. "The Gibson" tailpiece cover is filigree-bordered in a Loar-like manner. Even though there is no obvious player wear, this mandolin’s tone is strong and well developed over time. It has “THE” Voice. Included is custom deluxe replica OHSC (black exterior, green interior with plaque that states "BILL MONROE / Signature Model / Limited Edition 84 of 200") (SN:84 OF 200) and the original certificate. - Must pay within 24 hours from end of auction - For domestic, will ship using USPS Priority mail unless you want to pay to upgrade to USPS Express which from Tampa is usually next day. - For international, whatever the cost is what you pay.
