Heavy in the blade good for heavy brush cutting, not a thin blade like some machetes. The safety lanyard was a nice addition, just had to read the instructions to figure it out. Not sure about the sharpening stone, I have used this type before-they are good for a rough edge, or when the blade needs taken down due to damage.

I wanted a Woodman’s Pal, still do. This is in the same ball park. Definitely the budget version but it’s also a fraction of the cost. It’s decent. Needs to be treated with a fair bit of care. Not made to be indestructible and it’s not. It chops and cuts brush with it a problem. The blade is easy to sharpen with the included stone if you’re careful not to cut your fingers. It’s not the exact item I want but it’s a fine indefinite placeholder.

The versatile Woodsman Pal has been on my “want for buy” list for decades, but I could never justify the cost. And, the prices are increasing at a rate higher than salary. So, enter Gerber Machete Pro. It is a very viable substitute. If the Pal is a 10, this is at least a strong 8.5. Very happy with my purchase.

I've wanted this tool for so long, and it's finally mine. I thought i had peaked with my Gerber pocket multi-tool, but a MULTI-BLADE? Dreams do come true. Great price. Thank you.
