Player's Perspective

Music Store Live is proud to present this like new 2012 Gretsch George Harrison Duo Jet G6128T-GH! The Duo Jet just got that much cooler. If you're looking for a killer Duo Jet that honors the life and music of "the Dark Horse" and you're not ready to hand over $20,000 for the limited edition tributes from the custom shop, then this is for you. The playability on this guitar is simply off the charts - effortless bends, exacting fretwork, perfect intonation and it resonates in a big way. This axe is ready to split apart any style of Rock you can put on the choping block. The Bigsby is forgiving and very responsive. The tone is fat, full, thick, wooly and gnarly - you can easily switch from the darkest murk to the rippingest of leads. This would make George proud.

George Harrison played his 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet at the Cavern Club from February 1961 to August 1963, the formative years that would sharpen The Beatles act and ready them for world wide stardom. He used it to record their first album, Please Please Me and the song of the same name which was their first number one hit.

Item Details

From Gretsch...

ॐ This commemorative signature guitar is modeled after the 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet that a young George Harrison purchased secondhand in 1961 and subsequently played for the next few years as The Beatles really took form at countless gigs at the Cavern Club. This was the model guitar that was being played when people started to take note of the magic that was The Beatles.

Gretsch celebrates the legacy of George Harrison with the G6128T-GH George Harrison SIGNATURE Duo Jet® guitar, modeled on the instrument that the legendary guitarist often referred to as his “first real decent guitar.”

Features include distinctive appointments and modifications found on Harrison’s original 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet, which he purchased secondhand in the very early 1960s. These include a lightweight mid-’50s-style chambered body, all-BLACK color scheme (arched maple top, mahogany back and sides, and back of the one-piece mahogany neck), Bigsby® B3C tailpiece with a black Phillips head tremolo arm pivot bolt, and an offset strap button on lower bout. Other features include three-ply body binding (white-black-white), single-ply white neck and headstock binding, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with 12” radius and hump-block pearloid inlays, two single-coil DynaSonic™ pickups, vintage-style “rocking bar” bridge with rosewood base, silver plexi pickguard, chrome-plated Grover® V98CM Sta-Tite™ tuners, Gretsch “G” arrow control knobs, chrome-plated hardware, Harrison’s signature on the truss rod cover and a premium tweed case.
