Ginger Baker is an extraordinary person. Known to many only as the world's best ever drummer, and a man who was for much of his adult life a junkie with an explosive temper. If you watched Beware Mr. Baker. you'll enjoy the back story and reading about the things that formed his character. He seems to have a very sharp memory of so many tiny details o f times and places of his beginning years in the music business, through Graham Bond, and on into Cream, and I'm only half way through the book. He speaks frankly about his temper as well as how hurt he was when musicians he respected confronted him about it. Also it seems that he was not much of driver as he describes several car crashes he caused or had alone. He opens his heart about his loves and tells of his struggles and his fears. He speaks very lovingly of his children and his wife Liz. After all, though we think of Mr. Baker as Super Human, at the end of the day, he is still human. I'd tell anyone who is interrested in knowing anything about Ginger, Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton, Graham Bond, Cream, or Blind Faith. For sure you need to read this book. There are many great photos to be found inside too. I can't speak about how much of his later carreer is told in the narative since I just passed the mid point last night. But it is well written, flows nicely, and has me spell bound. But why wouldn't it. I've adored him since I was a 13 YO kid in the mid 60's and only knew his name and some of his music. Ya Gotta Love Ginger.Read full review
